29 Palms Rotary Cleanup

Members of the 29 Palms Rotary Club spent Saturday morning (March 19) cleaning trash, tires, discarded clothing, and old cable from a high-profile property on the highway just West of the AM/PM market.  
 
The effort was party of the City-sponsored “Cash for Trash” program that offers non-profit groups monetary incentives to clean designated areas in the City. Under the leadership of Rotary President Liz Meyers, Bob Clinkscale, Gary Daigneault, Dan Mintz, John Cole, Sandy Smith and Pat Welch spent the morning with grabbers, rakes, and shovels removing the unsightly detritus from the property. 
 
It is hoped that the property, which anchors the City’s downtown area, now offers a more attractive first impression to visitors as well as a more pleasing look for residents.  
 
Now celebrating their 74th anniversary, The Rotary Club of Twentynine Palms is a service club that operates under the motto, “Service Above Self”. In addition to community cleanup, the club offers scholarships for local students, support for area non-profits, sponsorship of the yearly Spring Carnival, support for Youth and High School sports, international projects and more depending on community need. The club meets Wednesdays at Noon at the Little Church of the Desert meeting room.
