With overflow attendance at their meeting of May 1, 2024, the Rotary Club of Twentynine Palms honored the teacher and student of the month from Condor Elementary School.
Condor Elementary principal Rich Romo introduced the honorees, starting with a brief background of how unique Condor is, located on a Federal facility, the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps air ground combat center, but administered by an elected civilian School Board. Romo said his choice for Student of the month, Emma Corbin, was unable to attend but he said she was chosen as a “Soaring Condor” for being calm and focused with a great attitude and a shining smile. Romo then introduced Gabby Crank as his “Teacher of the Month” choice. He said Crank had great classroom management noting, “She is the best first year teacher I have ever seen.” The Rotary Club meets on Wednesdays at noon at the Little Church of the Desert meeting room. They are part of an international organization dedicated to community service and world peace. Their remarkable efforts have all but eliminated polio in the world.
