The event of transferring an ambulance to the Rotary Club of San Felipe was well attended, not only by our own Rotarians; Deputy Chief Scott Tuttle, Captain Jay Dimoff and a number of the San Bernardino County Service member, but also by an impressive representative group of folks from San Felipe! Driving up to receive the ambulance from San Felipe included Their City Manager the Fire Chief, The President of their Rotary Club, and 4 0r 5 others.

I enjoyed an extended visit with Francisco Sosa, their Rotary President following the event.  They would be interested in working with our Club on some other very needed projects in their newly formed Municipality. The San Felipe Rotary presented us with a plaque, and a lovely gift.

--Liz Meyer

A new international bond of friendship has been formed between San Felipe,
Mexico and 29 Palms through the Rotary Clubs of both cities. San Bernardino
County Fire Department, under the leadership of Deputy Fire Chief Scott Tuttle
and Captain Jay Dimoff, transferred a surplus ambulance to the 29 Palms Rotary
Club, who, in turn, gifted the vehicle to the Rotary Club of San Felipe.

On Tuesday, December 5, the ambulance exchange took place at the 29 Palms Fire Station. San Felipe has recently acquired cityhood (municipality), breaking away from the District of Mexicali. Representing San Felipe for this event were Jose Luis Degnino
Lopez, San Felipe’s first Mayor; Carlos Quejada, Fire Chief; Ruben Ruiz, City
Manager; Javier Dagnino, Council Member of the Fire Department; Francisco
Sosa, President of the Rotary Club of San Felipe, and his wife.

29 Palms Rotary President Danny Mintz and several members of the 29 Palms club were in attendance to greet the visiting dignitaries. Several local firemen and additional
members of the San Felipe Fire Department were in attendance, as well.

Following the ceremony, Liz Meyer, who oversaw the details of the transfer on
behalf of 29 Palms Rotary, met with the San Felipe Rotary President to discuss
future International projects on which to work together.
